A Superfluid Hydrodynamic Model for the Enhanced Moments of Inertia of Molecules in Liquid
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a superfluid hydrodynamic model for the increase in moment of inertia, ∆I, of molecules rotating in liquid He. The static inhomogeneous He density around each molecule (calculated using the Orsay–Paris liquid He density functional) is assumed to adiabatically follow the rotation of the molecule. We find that the ∆I values created by the viscousless and irrotational flow are in good agreement with the observed increases for several molecules [OCS, (HCN)2, HCCCN, and HCCCH3]. For HCN and HCCH, our model substantially overestimates ∆I. This is likely to result from a (partial) breakdown of the adiabatic following approximation. 67.40.Yv,67.40.Hf,67.40.Bz,33.20.Sn Typeset using REVTEX

VISCOSITY COEFFICIENTS OF THE A-PHASE OF SUPERFLUID He AT LOW TEMPERATURES
It has been shown that the Boltzmann equation for the viscosity of the A-phase of superfluid 3He at low temperatures has the same form as for a normal Ferrni liquid. The viscosity coefficients A, B, C, D and E are derived exactly. The h , parameter plays an important role in determining the temperature dependence of the viscosity coefficients

In the procedure of designing an underwater vehicle or robot, its maneuverability and controllability must be simulated and tested, before the product is finalized for manufacturing. Since the hydrodynamic forces and moments highly affect the dynamic and maneuverability of the system, they must be estimated with a reasonable accuracy. In this study, hydrodynamic coefficients of an autonomous un...

The regional waters in Singapore Strait are characterized by complex hydrodynamic phenomena as a result of the combined effect of three large water bodies viz. the South China Sea, the Andaman Sea, and the Java Sea. This leads to anomalies in water levels and generates residual currents. Numerical hydrodynamic models are generally used for predicting water levels in the ocean and seas. But thei...

Experimental examination of the gyroscopic and rotary inertia effects on the chatter boundary in a milling operation is the chief aim of this article. The equations of motion of the tool vibration are derived based on Timoshenko beam theory and Hamilton principle by considering gyroscopic moment, rotary inertia, velocity-dependent process damping and radial immersion effect. For a range of dept...

In recent years, unmanned vehicles have intensively been developed to reduce human dangers for marine applications. Predicting the hydrodynamic coefficients of an autonomous underwater vehicle is important during the vehicle’s design phase. In other words to design an AUV, one must clarify its maneuverability and controllability based on a mathematical model. The mathematical model contains var...
